Brian Tieszen – President Since 1988, Sun Rich Fresh Foods’ founder and owner Brian Tieszen has been dedicated to his people, his customers and his products’ quality & safety. Prior to starting Sun Rich, Brian entered the produce industry, spending five years at Safeway in numerous positions and locations within their produce department. In the early 1980’s, his career shifted from retail to food service where he spent five years in sales at Neptune Foods (now GFS Canada) and developed his knowledge and contacts within the restaurant and institutional markets. In the mid-1980’s, Brian served as General Manager of Central Foods, a specialty produce distributor and processor to the food service trade. During the 1980’s the produce industry increased its focus on value-added/pre-processed products and enhanced product offerings to bring greater value to customers. At the time, the industry’s primary focus was on vegetables. After a year of market study and business planning, Brian knew the time was right for Sun Rich and the introduction of “A Fresh, Safe, Convenient Experience” for customers with fruit. Since then, Brian has lead and collaborated with a team of high-performing executives to bring high-quality fresh-cut fruit products in easy to serve & consume formats to food service operators and retail consumers in North America. The strength of the company is its values and the commitment of the entire team to delivering on them. Today, Brian is involved in a variety of food-related businesses bringing his strengths in leadership, strategic thinking, recruitment & retention and continuous improvement. A values-based person, Brian leads with a personal style of integrity, energy, and a passion for excellence. Outside of work, Brian is committed to his family and their well-being, and his own personal health & fitness. He serves in the community and on a number of non-profit boards.
